Our take

Saklawi asks a lot before it gives much back. The opening lemon is sharp and thin, and the raspberry in the heart pulls the spices toward a sticky place that can feel crowded. Cardamom and pepper try to keep the air moving, but the cinnamon and saffron sit heavy, and the sweetness in the accords makes the early wear a little clumsy if you apply too much at once.

This is a fragrance for someone who wants a leather scent that still feels dressed up. The base gives you three woods and a proper hide note, so the dry part of the wear stays dry and textured rather than turning into syrup. Raspberry is there, but it behaves like a garnish instead of the main plate, letting the oud and sandalwood carry the weight while the spice rack does the talking.

Guaiac wood adds a dry, slightly resinous edge that keeps the leather from smelling like a new jacket, and the saffron threads a warm line through the woods that makes the whole thing feel intentional rather than thrown together. It suits cooler evenings when you want something that smells constructed, not splashed on, and the citrus top is only there to hand you over to the spices before stepping out of the way
