Our take

Shushtar opens with caramel, rum, and cinnamon. The cinnamon brings a warm spice that sits beside the sugary caramel, while the rum adds a boozy edge that keeps the opening from feeling flat. This is a thick, sweet start that moves quickly into the middle. Orchid and honey join the tonka bean and tobacco at the heart. The honey pushes the sweetness further, and the tobacco adds a dry, leafy contrast that cuts through the sugar. Tonka bean bridges the top and the heart with its familiar almond-like warmth. The floral side of the orchid stays quiet under the heavier materials.

The base rests on labdanum, vanilla, and musk. Labdanum gives an amber weight that grounds the blend, and vanilla smoothens the edges left by the spice. Musk adds a soft finish that sits low against the skin. The overall impression is sweet, vanilla-led, and powdery, with warm spicy and caramel facets that stay present throughout. The tobacco lingers in the background without ever taking control. It feels polished and dense, leaning into comfort rather than brightness.

The composition relies heavily on sugar. Between the caramel, honey, tonka bean, and vanilla, there is little room for dryness or clarity. Anyone who finds heavy sweetness cloying will struggle with how much of it sits in every layer. The materials are pleasant on their own, but the blend does not step back from the sugar at any point.
