Our take

Vitesse by Armaf can feel sharply synthetic in the first few minutes. The pink pepper and lemon arrive with a bright, almost plastic edge that scratches at the nose rather than smoothing out. It is a loud, artificial citrus that does not pretend to be natural.

The scene is a concrete parking garage beneath a lit city bridge in the cool evening air. A man leans against a matte black car, the hood still warm from the drive. He wears a fitted jacket with a faint scent of motor oil and cold metal. Around him, the tangerine and bergamot cut through the damp garage air, sharp and clean.

As he walks toward the street, the mint and nutmeg in his collar mix with the exhaust and the night breeze. The birch adds a dry, charcoal-like smoke that clings to the wool of his sleeves. Beneath it all, the leather and cedar sit heavy against the pavement, grounded and dark.

That opening chemical sting remains the price of admission here. It never fully vanishes into the deeper woods. The fragrance holds its sharp, lab-made citrus high against the leather, creating a tension that some will find harsh rather than refined.
