Our take

You can smell the tension in Liz by O Boticário the moment it hits skin. The opening is a bright, almost abrasive burst of orange and saffron, a metallic shimmer that promises more than the heart can deliver. That citrus-spice flirtation collapses quickly into a dense, powdery iris and orange blossom duo, cushioned by a Bulgarian rose that reads more cosmetic than botanical. The base is where Emilie Coppermann shows her hand: a creamy, lactonic vanilla mousse smoothed over with vetiver and sandalwood, but the patchouli and tonka bean turn it into something decidedly sweet and synthetic, like the inside of a luxury handbag left too long in the sun.

The whole thing feels like a hotel lobby in late spring — elegant, air-conditioned, and utterly safe. With a sillage barely reaching 2.87, this is a scent that clings to your collar rather than filling a room, and the longevity of just over three hours means you’ll be reapplying before lunch. It’s a shame, because the powdery-woody drydown is genuinely pleasant, a softer, more intimate version of a mainstream designer gourmand.

Liz is for someone who wants a gentle, polite fragrance for daytime meetings or brunch with friends. If you crave projection, animalic depth, or anything adventurous, look elsewhere. Fall and winter suit its creamy warmth best, though spring is the season where its powdery iris and milk mousse feel almost like cashmere. It’s a perfectly nice scent, but nice doesn’t linger.
