Cologne d'Agar opens with a metallic edge that sits awkwardly against the bright lift of bergamot. That sharp, almost cold facet never fully disappears, and it keeps the fragrance from feeling as smooth as its resinous base promises. Sichuan pepper adds a tingle that is more prickly than warm, which some will find distracting in a composition built on heavy woods. The saffron and rose heart leans powdery rather than lush, and the frankincense adds a dry, pale smoke that does not soften the opening.
In daylight, the vanilla and benzoin try to round out the sharper angles, but the metallic note still glints through the warmth
