Our take

KEEN by Mahogany opens with a bright, juicy slap of litchi and kiwi, the citrus lending a tartness that keeps the fruit from turning syrupy. Within minutes, the chocolate emerges, but this isn’t dark or bitter; it’s milk chocolate melting into a bouquet of orchid and lily, the jasmine adding a creamy floral lift. The drydown settles into a powdery vanilla praline, bolstered by benzoin and amber, with sandalwood and cedar providing a soft woody anchor. The overall effect is like shaking out a silk scarf dusted with cocoa and powdered sugar, intimate and gently sweet, never cloying.

This is an unabashedly feminine Oriental Vanilla, and it wears close to the skin. With longevity sitting at 2.81 and sillage at 2.40, it’s a whisper, not a shout, and that suits its powdery, almost nostalgic character. It feels slightly synthetic in the opening fruit accord, but the heart and base lean cosy and mainstream, like a well-loved vanilla body lotion elevated with a spritz of floral chocolate. It shines on cool spring days, in autumn, and under winter coats, ideal for daytime wear when you want something comforting rather than commanding. Skip it if you crave projection or boldness; this one asks you to lean in, not stand across the room.
