Miyako opens with a flash of sunstruck stone, apricot and peach blurring into yuzu's bitter rind. But don't be fooled, this isn't a fruit basket. Within minutes, osmanthus pushes through, its leathery floral sweetness tangled with green tea and jasmine, the whole thing lightly lactonic, almost creamy. The leather note is soft, more like the inside of a worn glove than a saddle, and it anchors the florals without shouting.
As it dries, the true heart emerges: hinoki wood, sandalwood, and cedar layered with a whisper of katsura leaf, all resting on a musk base that is clean but carries a faint animalic hum. The overall character is like stepping into a Kyoto temple at dusk, the air thick with incense and the residual warmth of a body that just left. It feels natural and complex, niche in ambition but not self-consciously weird.
The sillage is polite, around 3.5, so this is a close wearer, not a room filler. Longevity is solid at 4.2, lasting a workday on skin.
