Our take

Nabati opens with a briny, boozy slap that feels like spilling a salted caramel rum on a Moroccan spice market floor. The saffron hits first, sharp and metallic, then cardamom and davana soften it into something fruity and slightly herbal, while ambrette adds a fuzzy, skin-like warmth. This is not a gentle entrance. The heart shifts to watery notes and iris, which together create a strange, almost damp floral effect, like a crushed rose left on a wet cedar dock. The cedar is dry and splintery, fighting the aquatic notes rather than blending with them, which gives the whole midsection a disjointed, uneasy feel.

Then the base finally settles, and here is where Nabati earns its keep. Leather and oud wrap around a sticky labdanum and vanilla, with moss and patchouli dragging the composition into dark, animalic territory. It becomes a brooding, salty skin scent that lasts well past eight hours, though sillage stays close. This is a fragrance that feels like an old wooden shipwreck crusted with salt, saffron stains, and dried moss, slowly surrendering to the earth. It suits someone who likes their lush, boozy openings to collapse into something rough and introspective. Skip it if you expect a smooth transition or a bright floral handshake. Wear it in deep winter, after dark, when you want a scent that struggles beautifully before it settles.
