Our take

No. 9 from Sense Dubai is a fragrance that feels structurally incomplete. The idea is solid, but the execution never quite pulls its weight. It opens with a sharp, bright rush of grapefruit, tangerine, and bergamot, quickly sharpened by black pepper, pink pepper, and nutmeg. The spices give it an initial bite, but they also expose the blend’s biggest issue: the citrus and spice never settle into the woods that follow. The heart brings patchouli, oud, cedar, vetiver, and labdanum, but these notes feel thin and oddly detached. Instead of wrapping around the opening, they sit beside it, never fully merging. The base attempts to anchor everything with tobacco leaf, amber, leather, and musk, yet even here the materials feel restrained to the point of feeling diluted. There is no real weight, no moment where the scent feels fully formed. For a fragrance that lists oud, leather, and tobacco, it stays surprisingly light on presence. The individual notes are all there, yet they never cohere into something that feels finished. It is pleasant in moments, but those moments do not add up to a satisfying whole. The blend feels like a sketch of a fragrance rather than a completed composition.
