Our take

Pisces opens with a currant note that sits a little too heavy, leaning syrupy against the bright lemon and bergamot. The cardamom and clary sage try to lift it, but the fruit keeps a sticky grip that never quite releases. It is a sunny kitchen in the middle of the day, windows open, light pooling on the counter. Someone is slicing citrus for a pitcher of water while a vase of violet and rose sits nearby, their petals just starting to drop. The air smells of fresh peels, crushed herbs, and a faint powder from the orris that dusts the flowers.

Freesia and jasmine drift through the room, soft and slightly soapy, blending into the woods that begin to rise from the floorboards. Sandalwood brings a smooth creaminess, while moss adds a cool, damp edge that keeps the sweetness from feeling flat. Ambergris and musk settle into the air like warm laundry, wrapping the sharper spices in a gentle haze. The scene stays right here, in this one bright room, with the scent hanging in the space between the sunlight and the wooden table.

That currant remains the problem. It weighs down the elegant florals and the clean woods, pulling the whole composition toward a candy-like tone that does not fully belong. The sage and bergamot fight a constant battle they cannot win. Even when the sandalwood and musk take over, a trace of that thick fruit lingers, refusing to let the fragrance breathe as freely as the open windows suggest it should.
