Queen Bess opens with a sharp bite of carnation and clove. Cinnamon and saffron bring a dry heat that sits close to the skin. Bergamot adds a bright lift before the grass turns the spice green. Cardamom rounds the edges without softening the blend.
Taif rose and lavender sit together in the heart. The lavender is dusty and leans into the powdery side of the rose. Musk pulls the flowers down from their stem. The flowers do not dominate the blend because the spice from the opening persists.
Patchouli and amber give the base a resinous weight. Sandalwood and Virginia cedar add a clean wood that keeps the resin from feeling heavy. Soil tincture and civetta introduce a damp, animalic earth that smells like a garden path after rain.
