Veil Noir opens with a rough, resinous leather that feels more like worn tack than polished luxury. Cardamom and black pepper add a dry, dusty heat, while grapefruit provides a brief, bitter flash of citrus that quickly retreats. Saffron weaves through the top notes with a metallic, golden edge that keeps the opening from feeling too heavy right away.
As the initial spice settles, the heart reveals a dense floral core. Jasmine and Bulgarian rose introduce a powdery, slightly indolic sweetness that contrasts with the sandalwood's creamy smoothness. This stage is where the leather softens just enough to let the white floral accords breathe, creating a texture that is aromatic and slightly animalic. The smoky accord becomes more noticeable here, curling around the flowers like woodsmoke in a velvet room.
The base is a deep, unapologetic dive into oud and patchouli, supported by a sweet, heavy amber and a persistent musk. The leather returns in the drydown, darker and more prominent than before, merging with the oud to create a scent that is intensely rich and resinous. It is a bold composition that demands a specific taste. The synthetic edge in the musk can occasionally clash with the natural depth of the oud, making the blend feel slightly disjointed rather than seamless.
