Our take

Confident by Armaf can feel a little thin in its opening moments. The raspberry and mandarin arrive with a bright, sugary lift, but the fruit reads more like a glossy candy coating than a fresh harvest. Thyme and cardamom try to add a green, herbal edge, yet they cannot fully ground the sweetness. It is a cheerful start that risks leaning too juvenile for someone who prefers a dry, serious citrus.

The heart settles into lavender and lily-of-the-valley, softening the fruit with a clean, soapy floral layer. Cedar and vetiver soon rise from the base, pulling the scent toward a warm, woody earthiness. Tonka bean and amber wrap the patchouli in a gentle, vanillic haze. It suits a sunny afternoon walk through a city park, when the air is warm but a breeze keeps the atmosphere crisp and active.

That initial candied fruit remains the weak point. It gives Confident a playful character, but it also limits the audience. Anyone who finds synthetic berry notes cloying will struggle to enjoy the drydown. The composition works hard to balance its parts, yet the opening leaves a specific impression that never fully disappears.
