Insense Ultramarine opens with a surprising burst of watermelon and blackcurrant, a fruity grenade that feels both aquatic and synthetic in the best 90s way. The galbanum and bergamot sharpen it into something green and crisp, like a chilled slice of melon dropped onto wet grass. As it settles, the heart reveals a strange, dusty iris tangled with mint and magnolia, a floral core that never fully commits to being sweet or fresh. The carnation and cardamom add a warm, slightly spicy flutter, but the composition remains oddly diffuse, like a radio signal fading in and out. On the drydown, tobacco and vetiver emerge, but they’re restrained, barely anchoring the cedar to any real depth. The whole thing feels like a mirage: a shimmering pool of ozone and fruit that evaporates as you approach. Longevity is a fleeting hour or two, sillage a soft whisper. This is unapologetically a daytime scent for spring or summer, best worn in bright sun where its synthetic edges soften into a playful, youthful haze. It suits someone nostalgic for the era of aquatics and sugary fruits, but skip it if you want substance, projection, or anything that lasts past lunch.
