Our take

Jasmin D'Egypte opens with a sharp green edge that can feel a little thin and scratchy before the flowers settle in. Bergamot and cassis give the first minutes a bright, slightly tart lift, but the tuberose leads the way and it carries a cool, almost soapy clarity that some will find too clean and a bit austere. The heart is a dense arrangement of Egyptian jasmine, gardenia, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, violet, rose, orris and osmanthus. It is white floral first, then powdery, then gently woody. The orris and violet soften the petals without muting them, and the osmanthus adds a mild apricot warmth that keeps the bouquet from feeling like a single straight line.

The base rests on musk, sandalwood, cedar, amber and moss. The woods give the flowers a dry spine while the amber and moss pull the scent toward a shaded garden path in warm air and dappled light. It stays polite and composed, never heavy or syrupy, and the powdery accord keeps it firmly on the traditional side of modern perfumery. The limitation here is the personality. With so many notes working at once, no single flower gets to lead for long, so the composition can read as careful and a little anonymous rather than bold. It is a tidy, versatile choice for daytime wear, but it rarely surprises.
