Our take

The first spray is a bright, boozy rush. Lemon and bergamot cut through the dark rum, creating a sharp opening that feels energetic rather than heavy. It is a lively start that immediately signals this is not a quiet floral. The citrus is loud and clear, mixing with the alcohol note to create a vibrant atmosphere that grabs attention right away.

Soon the heart reveals a bitter edge. Chamomile and coffee sit alongside dark chocolate, moving the scent away from simple sweetness. The coffee is roasted and dry, preventing the chocolate from becoming a gourmand treat. This middle stage feels textured and slightly austere, balancing the initial sugar with a herbal bitterness that keeps the profile complex.

The foundation is a dense weave of tobacco, leather, and vanilla. Mate and tonka bean add a grassy, coumarin warmth that blends into the woody patchouli and vetiver. Cashmeran and musk soften the edges of the leather, creating a resinous cloud that feels suited to a dimly lit room where the air is cool. It is a rich, enveloping scent that surrounds the wearer.

Composed by Miguel Matos, this blend throws a lot of distinct elements into the mix. The rum, the coffee, the tobacco, and the leather all fight for space. The composition feels crowded, lacking a single clear direction because every note demands to be noticed at once. It is a busy fragrance that can feel overwhelming rather than harmonious.
