Our take

Out In The Open opens with a strange, almost confrontational sweetness. Gardenia and ambrette bloom with a buttery, slightly overripe lushness, while a sharp saffron and a crisp green apple cut through like a blade of light. The heart unfurls into a powdery, pollen-rich haze of mimosa, broom, and orange blossom, with jasmine and orris lending a waxy, cosmetic feel. The drydown is where this fragrance reveals its true ambition: beeswax thickens into a golden, sticky honey, civet adds a dirty, animalic warmth, and leather and vanilla wrap everything in a soft, dusky embrace. It is a floral that has been left outside too long, wilting and fragrant, the petals bruised by late afternoon heat. The overall character is heavy and opulent, leaning decidedly synthetic in its polished bubble, but far from cheap—this is niche, but niche with its sleeves rolled up. With longevity over four hours and a strong sillage, it announces itself without apology. Does it go too far? Possibly, for those who want a clean floral. Skip this if you hate animalic undertones or find civet and beeswax cloying. But for someone who craves a nocturnal statement full of sweet, powdery decay, wear this in deep winter, at a candlelit dinner, when you want to smell like a velvet hangover.
