Our take

You have to admire the audacity of a grapefruit and lemon opening that promises crispness, then watch it dissolve into a polite, powdery white floral bouquet. Spring Flower 2023 is Creed doing what Creed does best: a pretty, safe fruit salad for the department store counter. The top notes fizz with bright green and citrus, but within minutes the jasmine and peach take over, cloaked in a synthetic sweetness that feels more air freshener than fresh flower. The dry down is where it gets interesting, or at least less boring: a salty ambergris and clean musk surface, anchoring the powdery fruit in something vaguely skin-like, like a cashmere scarf left in a drawer next to a peach candle.

This is a fragrance that wants to be a dewy spring garden but ends up as a pressed petal in a secretary’s planner, preserved but lifeless. It wears light and polite, almost apologetic, which aligns perfectly with its sub-three-hour longevity and whisper-thin sillage. Who actually wants to pay Creed prices for something that evaporates before you reach the office? The sweet, musky, animalic base hints at depth, but it never commits. A floral for women who want to smell like they just stepped out of a shampoo commercial, not like they spent money on a heritage house.

Wear it on a breezy April morning if you plan to be hugged often and do not mind reapplying. Skip it if you demand tenacity, complexity, or any sense of rebellion. This is a mainstream comfort blanket with niche pretensions.
