Vivage
Fragrance notes
Character
Vivage opens with a spark of pink pepper and grapefruit that feels like sunlight hitting a polished wooden table. The pepper gives a quick, bright bite while the citrus keeps the air around it clean. Elemi adds a resinous lift that stops the fruit from leaning too heavy. Pear sits quietly underneath, adding roundness without turning the start into a juice bowl.
The heart moves into ylang-ylang and heliotrope, creating a soft, powdery floral that rests on a base of cedar and sandalwood. The wood keeps the flowers from floating away, grounding the scent in something dry and steady. Vanilla and amber add a gentle sweetness, but the white musk pulls it back so it never cloys. It feels like a daytime companion, the kind of scent that fits a room filled with natural light and simple clothes.
Jean-Pierre Bethouart composed a fragrance that stays firmly in its era. The dried fruits and cassis in the heart give it a dated weight that modern noses may find fussy. It is a specific portrait of the mid-eighties, elegant but unwilling to update its lines. If you prefer a cleaner, more minimal floral, this one will feel overdecorated.
