Soleil Lunar
Fragrance notes
Character
Lalique’s Soleil Lunar opens with a bright, almost abrasive pop of mandarin and pink pepper that fizzes against a creamy magnolia. It feels like stepping into a greenhouse at noon all sharp citrus and waxy petals. Then the Lady of the Night flower arrives with a narcotic sweetness, softened by heliotrope’s almond powder and a touch of ambrette. This middle phase is where the contrast works best, the sunlit citrus fading into something nocturnal and fleshy. The dry down turns musky, mossy, and slightly animalic from the ambergris, though the vanilla accord keeps it from tipping into barnyard territory. Overall, it reads like a white blossom that refuses to sleep, glowing under a half moon with a halo of clean skin.
The sillage is a whisper, barely a 2.63, and longevity struggles past four hours on me. That’s its real weakness, it vanishes before it can seduce. The character is more synthetic than natural, polished into a mainstream floral musk that feels designed for the office rather than a garden at midnight. It suits someone who wants a pretty, polite scent that doesn’t demand attention, best worn during the day in spring or fall. Skip it if you crave projection or a dirty floral with bite. A delicate floral, but one that needs a heavier hand to truly linger.
