Amberlievable
Fragrance notes
Character
Luca Maffei’s Amberlievable opens with a fizzy, almost sticky burst of orange blossom and bergamot, the citrus quickly softening into a dense, balsamic heart. Here, amber and opoponax play the lead, backed by elemi’s piney lift and a dollop of creamy ylang-ylang that keeps everything from turning too solemn. The drydown is a woody vanilla hug: guaiac wood and sandalwood sand down the edges, while patchouli and cedar add just enough grit to stop it tipping into syrupy sweetness. The overall character is a low-slung, resinous quilt on a cool evening, something you sink into rather than strut out in.
With a sillage barely surpassing a whisper and longevity that fades within a few hours, this is not a projection monster. It feels natural and refined, leaning niche in composition but mainstream in wearability, warm without being heavy, sweet without being cloying. It works best in fall and winter, and while the day/night split suggests versatility, the intimate aura makes it more of a close-quarters evening scent or a cozy daytime companion for slow weekends.
Amberlievable suits those who value comfort over impact, who want a scent that stays close and smells like toasted wood and gentle resin. Skip it if you crave arm-length trails or all-day endurance. A quiet ember, not a bonfire.
