Our take

The original Alien built its reputation on a thick, almost solid jasmine-and-amber accord. Eau Extraordinaire takes the same house language and lightens every syllable of it: six citrus and green notes crowd the opening, bergamot, lime and orange all talking over one another, with tea adding a dry, leafy note underneath the fruit and lemon sharpening the whole accord further.

Tiare flower, orange blossom and heliotrope carry the heart, backed by a touch of pepper, and ylang-ylang gives it a slightly waxy, tropical-flower warmth, thick enough to carry real weight through the middle of the fragrance. The base is where the amber finally shows up, softened by cashmeran and vanilla into something closer to warm skin than incense. Sandalwood and white musk round the edges without adding weight.

Sillage stays modest, warming the collar of a jacket more than filling the room around it, picked up mainly by whoever stands nearest. Longevity holds at a comfortable middle ground, present without asking for constant attention. It suits spring and summer daylight best, when the citrus-and-white-floral combination feels bright instead of cloying, a lighter, easier take on a scent built for people who found the original Alien too heavy to wear every day.
