Our take

Free Hugs opens with a jumble of cheap citrus and sweet, almost candied litchi, but the lavender cuts through like a sharp, clean blade. It’s a crowded start — mandarin and peach wrestling with the aromatic herb, everything vying for attention before the aldehydes burst in, fizzy and synthetic, and the powdery violet settles the whole thing into a soft, muted floral haze. The heart is a dense bouquet of jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang, but they’ve been smoothed down, stripped of any indolic edge, and wrapped in a clean “skin” accord that feels like freshly laundered cotton. The drydown is a warm, slightly woody hug of sandalwood and benzoin, with patchouli adding just enough earth to keep it from floating away. The overall character is a freshly showered bouquet tossed into a sunny garden — gentle, approachable, and utterly inoffensive. It wears like a friend who always smells good but never overwhelms the room, which is fitting given the longevity and sillage scores: both are painfully weak, barely lasting through lunch and needing to be reapplied religiously. This is a spring-summer daytime scent for someone who wants to feel polished and pretty without making a statement. Skip it if you crave projection or complexity; this one whispers, never speaks, and fades before the conversation even starts.
