Our take

Ilham opens with a sticky, almost edible burst of caramel and red berries, but the peach and saffron add a sour, leathery tension that stops it from turning into a candy shop. The heart widens with pink pepper and ginger, while cypriol and labdanum push the sweetness into darker, resinous territory. On the dry down, the oud and vanilla settle into a rich, balsamic base that clings close to the skin, cushioned by patchouli and benzoin. The overall effect is a velvet-lined jewel box left open in a spice market: opulent, a little dusty, and impossible to ignore.

This is a dense, sweet-heavy oriental that feels deliberately niche in its construction. The notes are layered thick, and at times the caramel and fruit jostle for attention with the leather and oud, making it feel slightly crowded. It wears warmer than the moderate longevity and sillage suggest, but you'll need to reapply if you want it to command a room. It shines best in autumn and winter, when the cold air sharpens the resinous edges and the sweetness becomes a comfort rather than a cloy.

Who should wear it? Someone who enjoys gourmands with a dark twist, who doesn't mind a fragrance that announces itself. Skip it if you prefer airy, transparent scents or if you find caramel and leather an uneasy marriage. It works for day or night, though the 100% daytime vote suggests it feels surprisingly wearable even in casual settings. Just don't reach for it in July. 🍂
