Our take

Koiame opens with a bright, almost tart splash of green apple and pear, cut through by the zing of bergamot and lemon. There is a lovely, dewy freshness here, like stepping into a garden just as the rain begins to let up. The fruit is crisp and green, not syrupy, and the black currant adds a subtle sharpness that keeps things from tipping into candy sweetness. Soon the heart blooms with water lily and violet, a soft floral haze that feels more like a whispered memory of flowers than a full bouquet. The magnolia and jasmine are restrained, lending a gentle powdery undertone rather than any heady indolic weight. On the drydown, it settles into a clean skin scent of musk and cedar, with a very faint mossy soil at the base. The overall effect is like pressing your nose to a wet petal that has fallen on a cool flagstone path. It is fresh, light, and natural in feel, but the performance is glaringly weak. With longevity barely brushing two and a half hours and sillage that vanishes after the first five minutes, this is a fragrance for those who value a quiet, intimate whisper over any presence in a room. Wear it on a mild spring morning, to brunch or a solo walk, when you want something that sits close and doesn’t shout. Those who demand projection or all-day staying power should look elsewhere. It is a fleeting sketch, lovely while it lasts, but the rain washes it away far too soon. 🍃
