Our take

Laltrove 1002 is a fragrance for the gardener who wants the whole plot in a single spray. The opening justifies this with a bright, slightly bitter mandarin orange that sits beside jasmine and neroli, but the chamomile steers it away from a standard citrus splash. Rose adds a soft petal layer without turning the start powdery. The argument rests on the heart, where lavender and geranium bring the herb row straight to the wrist, and carnation adds a clove-like bite that feels like snapping a fresh stem. Virginia cedar grounds these greens with a dry, pencil-shaving wood that keeps the air around the flowers clean rather than lush.

The base continues the outdoor theme with cinnamon and saffron, which lend a warm, dusty spice to the soil. Patchouli here is earthy and dark, not sweet, and anise gives a cool, licorice edge that prevents the spice from feeling heavy. Mimosa adds a faint, hay-like yellow softness that suggests late morning sun on dried grasses. The composition stays aromatic and herbal throughout, never collapsing into a gourmand or a heavy oriental despite the rich base materials. It smells like walking through a cultivated border with citrus trees at one end and cedar at the other.

The limitation is the anise. It dominates the drydown in a way that will alienate anyone who dislikes licorice notes, and it prevents the floral side from fully breathing in the final stage. This is not a safe blind buy for those who prefer clean, indistinct musks.
