Our take

Buy a bottle if you want a spicy scent that smells like dry hay and cedar rather than sweet candy. Kilesa does not build this around the vanilla that sits in the opening. The pepper and lemon arrive first, but they clear out fast. What stays is the hay, a dry and dusty plant note that pulls the whole composition toward the woods. It is earthy and a bit rough, which keeps the amber from feeling too polished.

Matsuno Hidenori composed a blend that feels more like a walk through a barn than a trip to a perfume counter. The oud here is mild, supporting the sandalwood instead of dominating the air. Chamomile and thyme add a gentle herbal touch that softens the sharper edges of the pink pepper. It smells natural, though the powdery accord gives it a slight vintage feel that some might find old-fashioned.

The texture is dry from start to finish. There is no sticky residue in the way it sits on the skin, and the saffron lends a leathery hint without turning heavy. Jasmine is present in the heart, but it does not make the fragrance floral in a bright way. It simply rounds out the spices so the thyme does not feel too medicinal.

Wear this on a cool autumn afternoon when you want to smell like a man who spends his time outdoors. It fits a casual jacket and leather boots perfectly, offering a rugged alternative to the sugary scents that fill most shelves today.
