Our take

The first spray hits with a sharp bite of coriander and cinnamon, brightened by a quick flash of lemon and grapefruit. It feels immediate and slightly abrasive, like walking into a kitchen where someone just cracked fresh spice pods over a bowl of citrus segments. The opening is not smooth or polished. It carries a raw, almost medicinal edge that demands attention before the softer elements have a chance to speak.

Soon the spices step back as the heart reveals a dense bouquet of yellow florals. Orchid, ylang-ylang, rose, violet, and carnation create a heavy, powdery cloud that feels vintage and opulent. This stage moves the scent from a sharp kitchen counter to a velvet-curtained room filled with dried petals. The carnation adds a clove-like warmth that bridges the initial spice with the massive base to come.

Beneath the flowers sits a dark, resinous foundation. Vanilla and amber provide a golden sweetness, but the musk, patchouli, cedar, oud, costus, and vetiver drag it into the shadows. Costus brings a distinctly sweaty, animalic texture that keeps the sweetness from becoming a simple dessert. It smells like warm skin wrapped in heavy wool, surrounded by burning wood and damp earth.

This is a scent for a person strolling through a park while breath fogs in the cold air, wearing a scarf that carries the ghost of yesterday's warmth. It fits the person who wants their morning coat to smell of expensive dust and deep roots, a companion for gray skies and the clear light of a short day.
