Our take

The first spray hits with a sharp, medicinal lemon and bergamot, quickly joined by the bitter green of artemisia and a heavy pinch of cumin. Aldehydes add a sparkling, slightly metallic sheen that feels very much of its early nineties era. Basil and fern push the scent into a dense, aromatic thicket where geranium and jasmine try to soften the edges, but the overall impression stays rugged and unpolished.

As the hours pass, the fragrance settles into its true identity. Rough leather and earthy patchouli take command, supported by the deep, damp scent of oakmoss and vetiver. Frankincense adds a resinous, smoky weight that pairs with the musk to create a dense, animalic cloud. This is a dark, mossy chypre that feels masculine in a traditional, almost aggressive way, wrapping the wearer in a heavy blanket of forest floor and old tanned hide.

Sergio Soldano is a specific taste. It suits a wearer who enjoys the harsh, untamed character of vintage oakmoss and is comfortable with a prominent animalic streak. Those who prefer clean, modern citrus or soft woods will find this composition abrasive and dated. The cumin note can feel sweaty rather than spicy on certain skin, and the aldehydes never fully fade, leaving a soapy sharpness that clashes with the heavy base.
