Unutamam
Fragrance notes
Character
Unutamam opens with a razor-sharp slap of rosemary and mint, the lavender and juniper cutting through like cold air against stone. This is not a polite fougere. The heart twists into oregano’s herbal bitterness, jasmine’s honeyed indole, and a dusty patchouli that feels more like an attic floor than a garden. The dark leather core emerges quickly, anchored by castoreum’s animalic warmth and a labdanum that glows amber-red. Then comes the caramel, and here is where the fragrance either seduces or loses you. It is not sweet in a gourmand sense, more like the residue of burnt sugar on a leather glove. The whole composition feels like a vintage apothecary jar that once held herbs and now carries the ghost of a honeyed cough drop, its glass sticky and dark.
With an average rating of 3.81, the split opinion makes sense. This is niche in the best and most demanding way, leaning synthetic in its herbal top but deeply natural in its mossy, musky base. Longevity is excellent, easily eight hours, and sillage sits close enough to feel intimate but strong enough to leave a trail in a cold room. It is a fragrance for winter nights, for coats and scarves and solitary walks after midnight. The heaviness would cloy in summer, and the castoreum plus caramel combo will unsettle anyone who prefers clean air. Who should wear it? Someone who wants to smell like a memory they can’t quite place, leather, earth, and a faint sweetness that never fully resolves.
