Rum and myrrh open Vanille Fatale with a dark, boozy warmth, saffron, coriander, orange and lime keeping the top lively and a little sharp before the sweetness sets in. Olibanum adds a resinous lift that hints at what the base has in store.
Barley and coffee move into the heart alongside plum, frangipani, narcissus, artemisia and rose, an unusual, food-adjacent combination that few florals would attempt, artemisia adding a bitter, herbal note against all that ripe fruit. The coffee note especially gives it a bitter edge that keeps the sweetness honest.
Madagascar vanilla, suede, tobacco, mahogany, patchouli, oakmoss and violet build a base with real density, leathery and dense beneath the vanilla, giving the sweetness real weight. This is where the formula flexes hardest, longevity showing no sign of quitting early, while projection stays contained, a warm cloud close enough to notice but never spreading past that.
Yann Vasnier built something layered and a little unusual, best suited to cooler evenings when leather and tobacco can carry the vanilla instead of sugar. It rewards patience more than a quick first impression, unfolding differently depending on how long you sit with it.
