Oud X
Fragrance notes
Character
Oud X by Benjamin Barber asks patience from the wearer because its opening feels sharp and metallic. The oud arrives with a cold edge that can read clinical next to the bright bergamot, and the first minutes lean into that sterile facet before the warmth underneath has a chance to surface.
Saffron and cedar step in to soften the start, though the heart stays dry rather than lush. Peony, lily-of-the-valley and freesia add a powdery veil that keeps the spice from feeling heavy, while patchouli grounds the mix with an earthy tilt. The sandalwood and dates in the base pull the scent into a gentle, lingering sweetness that rests near the skin and stays present through a long afternoon without reaching outward. Musk, ambergris and vanilla round it out so the finish feels smooth and slightly resinous.
Composed by Jimmy Anton Studer and launched in 2025, this masculine oriental floral suits someone who enjoys oud but prefers it tempered by pale flowers and subtle sugar. It works best in cooler weather and during the evening, when the metallic top notes settle into the surrounding wood and the powdery heart feels at home.
