Fragrance notes
Character
The first spray feels like too much. The aldehydes lift the tart rhubarb and crisp apple into a sharp, almost stinging brightness that overwhelms the mandarin orange for a few minutes. It is an aggressive start that pushes hard against the nose, demanding attention before the composition has settled into its stride.
In a dim courtyard lit by a single hanging bulb, the air carries this scent through the evening. The rosemary and thyme cut through the white floral weight of orange blossom, while lavender adds a clean edge to the orris root. As the night continues, the base reveals itself. Cedar provides a dry structure for the heavy patchouli, while the tonka bean and vanilla try to soften the edges. A thread of incense curls through the mix, giving the amber accord a smoky, resinous depth that matches the stone walls around you.
That opening harshness never quite vanishes. Even as the woody and sweet elements wrap around the aromatic herbs, a metallic tang from the top notes remains in the background. It keeps the fragrance from feeling truly smooth, a rough start that leaves a slightly sharp impression on the skin.
