Our take

Arrogance Uomo opens with a brisk citrus snap of bergamot, petitgrain, and neroli that feels more like a brisk Mediterranean morning than a declaration of arrogance. The mandarin adds a faint sweetness that quickly gets reined in by basil and coriander, creating a green, aromatic middle that is neither soft nor shy. Lavender and lily of the valley push it toward fougere territory, but the jasmine here is restrained, almost dusty. The dry down is where this 1987 release shows its age: vetiver and cedar weave a woody blanket, patchouli adds an earthy, slightly rough edge, and sandalwood tries to soften it all but can’t quite erase the overall sense of barbershop aftershave from two decades prior. The overall character is a faded leather armchair in a sunlit smoking room, comfortable but a little stiff.

This is a sharp, herbal fougere that wears its masculinity like a starched collar. It feels more synthetic than natural, leaning mainstream in its approach, but the quality is respectable for the price bracket. The longevity is decent but not impressive. The sillage sits noticeably low, so don’t expect to announce your arrival from across the room. That low projection might actually be its quiet saving grace. It suits men who prefer classic, clean fragrances with a bitter green backbone. Skip it if you want something modern, sweet, or loud. Best worn to a daytime spring or fall event where the goal is to smell put together, not memorable. Is there anything wrong with smelling like a well groomed man from 1987? Not really, as long as you don’t mind flying under the radar.
