This lightness does not last long once the spices arrive, because the cinnamon and nutmeg quickly anchor the scent with a dry heat that pushes the sweeter facets aside. Davana and saffron add a slightly medicinal edge to the brightness of the bergamot and tea, so the entrance is more puzzling than welcoming.
