Our take

Love by Chopard is a rose avalanche, and I mean that with both admiration and a raised eyebrow. Alberto Morillas has built a fragrance that opens with a dizzying trio of Damask, Taif, and standard rose, all dusted with pink pepper and a whisper of cinnamon. It feels like walking into a greenhouse during a wedding, petals crushed underfoot, the air thick and syrupy. The heart brings Bulgarian and Moroccan roses alongside a creamy jasmine sambac, but make no mistake, this is still about the rose. Then the drydown arrives with Turkish rose, patchouli, honey, and enough vanilla, cacao, and brown sugar to turn the whole affair into a candied bouquet, a pot of rose petal jam left simmering on a winter stove.

The overall character is a warm, sweet, slightly powdery floral with a woody backbone. It leans more mainstream than niche, but the density of rose notes gives it an obsessive quality. The longevity and sillage are both moderate, around a 3.4 and 3.2, so it won't announce you from across the room, but it will hover close like a scented cashmere scarf. Best worn in cooler months, spring through winter, and it works for daytime or evening. This is for someone who loves rose in all its forms, who wants to feel enveloped in a cozy, sweet floral hug. Skip it if you prefer fresh, green, or airy scents. This rose has no intention of leaving quietly.
