Must II
Fragrance notes
Character
Must II opens with a startling burst of hyacinth and tarragon — green, almost bitter, with a citrusy spark from mandarin and bergamot that quickly softens into a fleshy peach sweetness. It’s a floral that refuses to apologize for its intensity in those first minutes. The heart unfurls like a well-tended greenhouse: narcissus adds a waxy yellow density, orris root dusts everything in powder, while carnation and lily-of-the-valley keep the composition brisk and slightly metallic. Rose and jasmine are present but restrained, never tipping into syrupy territory. Then the base asserts itself — oakmoss and vetiver pull the whole thing earthward, sandalwood and cedar provide a dry, almost scratchy warmth, and musk ties the loose ends together. The overall character is that of a linen blouse that has been hung to dry in a garden full of damp leaves and crushed stems. It feels decidedly natural, leaning into its green and mossy bones rather than any synthetic fruit punch. The longevity and sillage are moderate — you’ll get a solid four to five hours of polite presence, not a room-filling broadcast. That’s fine for a fragrance this chewy; it deserves close encounters. This is for someone who craves a grown-up floral with a dirty, woody underbelly, not for those seeking a clean or airy spritz. Best worn in spring or autumn, preferably in daylight, when the interplay of sharp greenery and powdery florals can stretch lazily across an afternoon.
