His Aura by Night
Fragrance notes
Character
You want something that feels dressed for a candlelit table and a heavy coat. Van Gils builds His Aura by Night around a bright, fruity opening where red apple and Amalfi lemon meet bergamot, while violet and osmanthus add a soft, slightly powdery edge. Cypress and fig leaf pull the top away from pure sweetness and give it a green, resinous lift that keeps the entrance from feeling like a candy dish.
As it moves forward, jasmine and ylang-ylang bring a creamy white floral heart, with lavender offering a clean, aromatic line through the middle. The base is where the fragrance settles into its true personality. Vanilla and tonka bean meet amber and musk for a warm, sweet foundation, but Virginia cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss, and patchouli ground that sweetness with a woody, earthy chypre structure. It smells polished and composed, more suited to a formal evening than a casual afternoon.
The blend aims for a refined balance between floral elegance and woody depth, and it mostly succeeds. The limitation is that the composition leans heavily on familiar, safe materials, so it rarely surprises. It smells pleasant and well assembled, but it lacks a distinct signature that would make it stand out among similar evening releases.
