Le Numero Cinq
Fragrance notes
Character
Le Numero Cinq opens with a bright, fizzy lift from aldehydes that carries neroli and bergamot forward. A touch of peach adds a soft, rounded fruitiness to the start, giving the entrance a gentle warmth before the floral heart takes over.
The middle develops into a dense bouquet of orris and ylang-ylang, supported by carnation and orange blossom. Plum deepens the floral arrangement with a dark, slightly jammy sweetness that feels rich rather than playful.
Base notes of incense, oakmoss, and patchouli anchor the composition with earthy, resinous weight. Sandalwood and amber smooth the edges, while cloves and benzoin add a dry, spicy finish that keeps the sweetness from becoming overwhelming.
Vanilla lingers beneath the mossy, powdery surface, tying the woody and floral elements together. The result is a warm, spicy, and iris-led chypre that suits a dim, candlelit room and heavy wool clothing.
