Our take

Velvet Praline opens with a bright, slightly bitter almond that meets a sharp lemon peel. The coffee here is dark and roasted, sitting next to a clean bergamot that keeps the start from feeling too heavy. Tuberose arrives quickly, creamy and loud, followed by orange blossom that adds a soft, soapy edge. Jasmine sambac brings a rich, indolic quality, while Bulgarian rose offers a classic, slightly spicy floral touch. Orris lends a smooth, rooty powder that ties the white flowers together. The heart feels dense and polished, with the florals leaning more toward a formal bouquet than a garden stroll.

Cashmeran and sandalwood create a warm, fuzzy texture beneath the praline and tonka bean. Cacao adds a dry, bitter chocolate note that stops the sweetness from becoming flat. Vanilla and amber wrap around patchouli and cedar, giving the base a resinous, woody depth. Cinnamon sparks briefly, then settles into the musk. The overall impression is a thick, nutty cream poured over dark wood. Someone who enjoys a loud, powdery white floral paired with heavy gourmand elements will find a lot to like here. It suits a dressed-up evening where the room is warm and the lighting is low, like a velvet curtain drawn across a window.
