Our take

Maroussia opens on a fizz of aldehydes, sharp and a touch powdery, the kind of top note long associated with a certain era of French-style perfumery. Orange blossom and peach round that sharpness within moments, but the real story is the sheer size of the floral heart: carnation, iris, tuberose, rose and lily-of-the-valley are stacked so densely that no single flower leads for long, each one taking a brief turn before folding back into the crowd.

Civet gives the base a warm, animalic hum underneath sandalwood, amber and vanilla, pulling the whole composition toward something like a fur coat just pulled from a cedar closet, animal warmth still clinging to the fabric, powdery and faintly feral at once. Endurance is average, holding a fair course without demanding much attention, and projection stays intimate, the kind sensed by whoever is sitting close, in a car or on a couch.

It wants cold air and a heavier coat, the kind of days when a scarf is not optional. The animalic warmth at its base is the boldest thing about it, dense and a little feral all the way to the finish.
