The evening air is cool against the skin as a small gathering lingers on a dimly lit terrace. Someone nearby is wearing Vanulia. It begins with a bright flash of mandarin orange and orange, quickly joined by the resinous bite of frankincense and the dark, fermented sweetness of rum. Almond adds a soft, powdery edge to the sharp sting of cloves and black pepper, while saffron threads a golden, metallic warmth through the opening moments.
As the night continues, a heavy garland of white florals unfolds. Frangipani, gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and ginger swirl together in a lush, creamy cloud, with cinnamon lending a dry, bark-like heat to the petals. The scene feels intimate and slightly opulent, the air thick with the scent of skin and flowers. Beeswax and tonka bean enter with a honeyed, almond-like depth, followed by tobacco, sandalwood, patchouli, labdanum, coffee, oud, ambergris, vanilla, vetiver, musk, and Peru balsam.
The atmosphere grows richer as the blend settles. The vanilla here is deep and resinous rather than sugary, wrapped in the smoky, medicinal weight of oud and the salty, sea-worn character of ambergris. Peru balsam and labdanum add a sticky, resinous glow, while vetiver and patchouli ground the sweetness with earth. It is a fragrance that feels like a heavy silk curtain drawn against the dark, built on a foundation of warm spicy, amber, white floral, woody, citrus, sweet, fresh spicy, floral, animalic, and balsamic notes.
