Tangalunga
Fragrance notes
Character
Tangalunga is for the person who walks into a room and changes the temperature without raising a voice. It belongs in a dimly lit space where wood panels line the walls and a heavy curtain blocks the street. The air is warm and still. Someone is wearing a silk shirt with the top buttons left open. The fragrance fits that exact moment, when the evening has settled and the outside world has been shut out.
The opening is a loud rush of mandarin orange, sweet orange, and mango. Banana and cacao pod sit beside them. It feels like a market stall at peak heat, but the cade oil cuts through the sugar with a dry, smoky edge. Petitgrain and bergamot add a clean bitterness that keeps the fruit from becoming a smoothie. Lemon and grapefruit flash bright for a second, then the palm leaf note brings a green, fibrous texture that feels almost raw.
Champaca and tuberose take over with a heavy, creamy weight. Jasmine and ylang-ylang layer on top of copaiba balm and gurjan balsam. The heart is thick with benzoin and tolu balsam, sticky and resinous. Gardenia and orchid add a cool, damp petal feel, while guaiac wood and betel pepper introduce a sharp, spicy bite. Magnolia floats above the heavier white florals, but the overall impression is a dense floral cloud that presses against the skin.
Civet and castoreum anchor the base with a distinct animalic growl. Leather and sandalwood follow, smooth and dark. Vanilla and peach soften the edges, with apricot and violet adding a powdery softness. Cypriol, vetiver, and oakmoss provide a dry, earthy foundation. Celery and cinnamon surprise the nose with a savory, warm twist. Wear it when the night is long and the company is close.
